Voice from the Deep

Once upon a time

When I was young and free

I met a darkness deep within

That never talked to me.

Instead it stared at me

From deep within

With sullen, silent eyes.

I felt so watched,

So judged and scared

I was afraid to be alive.

And what I know now

Is that life is full of pain

Yet also full of joy and peace.

And from our wounds we gain

Wisdom

That lives inside our bodies now –

Unperfected wisdom

That has led me to

This knowledge In which

I rest.

For all those years ago

I never thought

I’d get

To meet

You.

You? Who are you?

You have shown me

Not much at all,

But directed me again and again

To love.

Your voice –

So strong,

Commanding

And loved –

I feel for sure

You must

Be God.
